Hey, I am Amber. I grew up a child of the ’80s on the typical SAD diet. I transitioned to a plant-based diet in 2013 after a doctor told me that most of my chronic sinus infections, IBS, and pain were likely caused by my eating wheat, dairy, meat, and nitrates.
Eliminating these foods from my diet changed my life. The changes were so profound that it led me to become a holistic nutritionist and herbalist. During my studies, I fell in love with nature and became fascinated by the positive impact that eating a plant-based diet had not only on my health but on climate change and the earth.
I also started to research the effects of toxins in our mainstream cleaning products, beauty products, clothing, etc, and naturally started to look for products that were more eco-friendly and sustainable.
I feel most of us would like to eat more plant-based, reduce our waste consumption and purchase more natural products; but for most of us, we don’t know where to start and there seems to be a lot of opinions.
This is why I started the Vegan Grocer. I wanted to create a non-judgmental space where people could ethically shop for vetted vegan goods and also make elegant, eco-friendly swaps to their everyday household products. Transitioning to a plant-based diet takes support, community, and time. So within this site, you can find recipes, meal plans, consultations, shopping lists, etc. Hopefully, I can make your transition to a more holistic, plant-based lifestyle easy and fun.
I believe going plant-based and making simple eco-friendly swaps to our everyday household items is the best thing we can do for our own health, animals, and the health of our planet.
